Meeting of the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis with the President of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had an afternoon meeting at the Maximou Mansion with Bulgarian President Rumen Radev.

The meeting, held in a very positive climate, underlined the very concrete progress in economic cooperation between the two countries.

The Prime Minister welcomed the Bulgarian President to Greece and referred to the close ties of friendship and cooperation between the two peoples.

The Bulgarian President, for his part, said Greece and Bulgaria are strategic partners and underlined bilateral co-operation in many fields, including energy and -especially- on issues pertaining to security.

The two leaders also discussed issues related to our neighborhood and the challenges it faces, with an emphasis on migration and the process of enlargement of the European Union to the Western Balkans.

Mr Mitsotakis and Radev also referred to the three countries’ declaration, Greece – Cyprus – Bulgaria, on immigration issues in the Eastern Mediterranean. At the same time, they expressed their support for the European Union – Turkey Agreement, their concern about developments in the Middle East and the implications they may have for Turkey’s commitment to implement it.
