Statement by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on his arrival at the European Council meeting in Brussels

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis made the following statement at the European Council meeting in Brussels:
‘Today, I will not simply inform my counterparts regarding the developments in the eastern Mediterranean. I will ask – and I am sure I will receive – their practical support in the matter of the Turkish provocations. This so called Memorandum of Understanding between Libya and Turkey is void. It grossly violates the sovereign rights of Greece and has no legal effect.
Europe has been building diplomatic ‘’walls’’ against Turkish provocation. And throughout this process, our country is not alone, it has very strong allies. We are acting calmly, confidently but most importantly, following a concise plan. What is more, we are acting with the assurance that the Greek people are united in their support of our initiatives. ‘’
