Today the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu for the signature of the transnational agreement for the construction of the EastMed gas pipeline.
The two leaders reaffirmed the close ties between Greece and Israel and discussed on how to strengthen the bilateral cooperation in many aspects such as defence industry, investment flows and tourism.
During their discussion, they reviewed the developments in the broader region and they both agreed on their analysis.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Benjamin Netanyahu agreed that the cooperation for ensuring the stability in the region contributes to the development and prosperity of all the countries of the neighbourhood.
At the beginning of the visit, the two leaders said the following:
K. Mitsotakis: It is great to have you here. We are really happy that you are here after a long time. Signing this agreement is a good way to start this year.
B. Netanyahu: There are many consequences. Also, we would like to suggest – I can say this in front of the Press – the establishment of a trilateral firefighting force, along with Cyprus, in order to share the expenses.
K. Mitsotakis: We are really interested in sharing means when it comes to natural disasters. We will share more over time.
B. Netanyahu: We do not want to see what is happening in other countries in our country.
K. Mitsotakis: Neither do we.
