Teleconference of Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis with executives of company Landis + Gyr

Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis discussed a new, important investment for our country with the executives of Landis + Gyr, a company with international operation in 30 countries. The investment concerns the construction of a new unit in Corinth and the creation of 170 new jobs by the company, which is the world’s leading supplier of integrated energy management solutions in terms of “smart” measurement and information infrastructure.
During the discussion, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis pointed out the Government’s commitment to attracting investment and stressed that the crisis resulting from the Coronavirus has not slowed down the country’s decision to move on to the new era for energy and “green energy”, rather it has strengthened it. He also highlighted that the crisis has led to digital changes within a short time span, which had not taken place for decades.
Foreign investors congratulated Greece and the Prime Minister on the successful measures adopted to address the crisis, and expressed satisfaction for the rapid resolution of bureaucratic problems in order for investments to proceed. It is extremely important, as they have noted, that Greeks, presently working in company units in Britain and other countries, show a strong interest in returning to Greece and working at the company unit in Corinth.
Landis + Gyr, with sales amounting to $1.8 billion, is already operating a factory in Corinth with 500 employees and exports calculating 90% of business. It is worth noting that the new natural gas production unit, which is to employ another 170 employees, was eventually chosen to be established in Greece, instead of Romania that the company had initially decided.
The teleconference attended the Minister for Development and Investment, Adonis Georgiadis, Minister for the Environment and Energy, Kostis Hatzidakis, Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister and Government Spokesman, Stelios Petsas, Special Secretary for Public and Private Partnerships, Nikos Mantzoufas, Secretary General for Regional Planning and Urban Environment, Efthymios Bakogiannis, Chief Economic Adviser to the Prime Minister, Alexis Patelis and, on behalf of Landis + Gyr, Group CEO Werner Lieberherr, Executive Vice President, Susanne Seitz, Vice President, Supply Chain & Operations, Adrian Theiler and Managing Director for Greece, Aristides Pappas.
