Upon his arrival at the EU Social Summit, held in Porto, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated:
The Porto Social Summit takes place at a turning point for the European economy. As the pace of vaccinations accelerates and the pandemic recedes, Europe will be focusing less on the protection of jobs and more on the creation of good employment opportunities.
This translates into three things for Greece. Firstly, the substantial acceleration of investments through cuts in taxes and social security contributions and the establishment of a better investment climate. Secondly, a focus on education and training, so that our young people have the know-how and the skills that will help them find good jobs. Thirdly, a new labor legislation that will empower workers.
That will empower the employee to determine his work–life balance; to tell his employer that he cannot be disturbed beyond working hours, in case of remote work; to say “no” to any violation of labor laws and unpaid overtime, through the digital worker’s card.
