From the start, Greece supported the initiative of the Portuguese Presidency to prioritize Europe’s social agenda. However, in order to implement the provisions of its social pillar, Europe as a whole needs to return to fast-paced growth.
This is why it is very important to make use of the new financing tools that we now have in our disposal as soon as possible. I am referring specifically to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan “Greece 2.0”, which, in my estimation, will be approved by the European authorities by the end of June.
Yet, the recovery that will come after this pandemic needs to be of a different kind, featuring more and better jobs, less inequality, better quality of work, improved working conditions. A recovery that will make the fight against discrimination a priority.
In this undertaking, to build a new social Europe which will leave no European behind, Greece will play a leading role at the national and the European level.
