Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with the President and a delegation of the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne, in Maximos Mansion.
During the meeting, special mention was made of the diverse and rich activities developed by the community, focusing on the preservation of the Greek cultural heritage and the support of our national issues, while Kyriakos Mitsotakis thanked its leadership, expressing his appreciation for its efforts in order to project the modern image of our country in Australia.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis focused on the relations of the Greek State with our Expatriates, making special reference to the new consular and digital services provided to the Hellenism of the Diaspora for faster and more efficient assistance and in order to overcome chronic bureaucratic malfunctions, with the implementation of the ‘Register of Citizens’, the video call system ‘My ConsuLive’, and the ‘Virtual Assistant’ application.
Finally, Mr. Mitsotakis pointed out that the conclusion of a bilateral agreement to avoid double taxation is a priority, a perspective of particular importance for the further deepening of bilateral economic relations with Australia and the promotion of mutual investments.
Τhe meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of Diaspora Greeks and Public Diplomacy, Andreas Katsaniotis, the Deputy and International Secretary of Nea Demokratia Tasos Chatzivasileiou, the Secretary General for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy, Ioannis Chrysoulakis and the Director of the Diplomatic Office of the Prime Minister, Ambassador Anna-Maria Boura.
