Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with the EU mission for the upgrading of the railway network

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met today, at Maximos Mansion, with Kristian Schmidt, Director for Land Transport at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport, Josef Doppelbauer, Executive Director of the European Union Agency for Railways, Elzbieta Lukaniuk, Member of the Cabinet of Commissioner for Transport Adina Vălean, and Eleni Paleologou, Deputy Head of the Representation of the European Commission in Greece.

The members of the European delegation presented to the Prime Minister their initial thoughts, which will be transformed into specific proposals for improving the operation of the railway network, the safety of transport, the upgrading of infrastructure, the adoption of best practices and the best possible use of European funds for investments in the Greek railway network.

The Prime Minister stressed that Greece, in the context of the fully transparent investigation into the tragedy at Tempi, will make full use of the expertise and experience of European services.

The meeting was also attended by the Minister of State responsible for infrastructure and transport, Giorgos Gerapetritis, and the Director of the Prime Minister’s Diplomatic Office, Ambassador Anna Maria Boura.
