Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with a delegation of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
During the meeting, they discussed prospects and ways of strengthening bilateral economic cooperation. Special emphasis was placed on the planning for the establishment of a Greek-Indian Chamber of Commerce. To this end, a business delegation of the Confederation of Indian Industry will visit Athens in the coming period.
The Prime Minister presented the prospects of the Greek economy, which is on a stable growth path and underlined that there are great investment opportunities, particularly in the sectors of infrastructure and logistics centres, energy, agriculture and pharmaceuticals.
The Prime Minister made special reference to the importance of ‘IMEC’, the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor and the role that Greece can play as a hub of this important trade corridor, but also as an honest interlocutor for the countries of the region.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis also spoke about the initiatives undertaken by Greece for the diversification of energy sources and connectivity, the Vertical Corridor, as well as renewable energy sources.
The meeting was attended, on the Greek side, by the Ambassador of Greece to New Delhi, Aliki Koutsomitopoulou, the Head of the Prime Minister’s Economic Office Alexis Patelis and the Advisor to the Prime Minister for Global Affairs and Strategic Communications, Aristotelia Peloni.
On the Indian side, attendees were R. Dinesh (Chairman CII, Chairman, TVS Supply Chain Soluwons Limited), Chandrajit Banerjee (CEO CII), Baba Kalyani (Chairman and Managing Director, Bharat Forge Limited), Srinivas Bommidala (Chairman, GMR Group International Airports), Sunjay Kapur (Chairman CII Europe, Chairman, Sona Comstar), Vikram Shroff (Vice Chairman and Co-CEO, UPL Ltd. ), Uday Khemka (Vice Chairman, SUN Group).
The Prime Minister then toured the New Delhi airport, which is managed by GMR, the company building the new airport at Kasteli.
