Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, on the sidelines of the 79th UN General Assembly in New York.
The two leaders reviewed progress on the political dialogue and the positive agenda. They agreed to intensify cooperation on migration in the coming period to dismantle networks of traffickers who put lives at risk.
They instructed the Foreign Ministers of the two countries, George Gerapetritis and Hakan Fidan, to begin preparations for the convening of the next High-Level Cooperation Council between Greece and Turkey, to be held in Ankara in January 2025, on the basis of the Athens Declaration.
