Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel Gideon Sa’ar

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met this afternoon with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel Gideon Sa’ar, at Maximos Mansion.

At the beginning of their meeting, Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the Israeli Foreign Minister had the following dialogue:

Kyriakos Mitsotakis: Pleasure to have you. You were here for a very important meeting, sort of reconfirming the value of our trilateral cooperation between Greece, Cyprus and Israel. But let me also highlight again to you the importance I attach personally and my government attaches to the strategic partnership between Greece and Israel.

It is a partnership that I think needs to be further developed for the broader stability in the Eastern Mediterranean, but also a partnership that I think can add a lot of value to both our countries. And I’m eager to discuss in more detail further areas of cooperation.

Gideon Sa’ar: Thank you, Prime Minister. It’s a pleasure to be here. I think times are challenging and demonstrate the importance of our relationship. And I think that today in the discussions we were very practical about how to move forward in several aspects.

We thank you for the hospitality. We know that it’s not that only you, a friend of Israel, a good friend of Israel, but comes from a family that has a heritage of friendship with the state of Israel and the Jewish people. And we are thankful for that, appreciate that and looking forward to working together.
