Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with his Swedish counterpart Ulf Kristersson, on the sidelines of the European People’s Party Congress in Valencia.
During their meeting, they discussed issues of European interest, with an emphasis on the latest developments in Ukraine and the European economy.
The two leaders also discussed issues related to the exposure of minors to social media.
The Prime Minister made a special reference to the tools developed by the Greek government in the framework of the National Strategy for the Protection of Minors from Internet Addiction and stressed that the European Union must find the right balance between the regulatory framework for platforms and technology companies on the one hand and the development of innovation on the other.
The Prime Minister also met with Henna Virkkunen, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for Tech Sovereignty, Security and Democracy.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis underlined that Greece has a comprehensive National Strategy for AI, human talent, has been selected for one of the first seven AI Factories in the EU and has a dynamic ecosystem of start-ups in the field of AI.
The Prime Minister stressed the need for an ethical and safety framework regarding the use of artificial intelligence, which will protect users but at the same time will not restrict innovation and the development of technology.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis also met with the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, with whom they discussed issues on the European agenda and European legislative initiatives.
