Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met this afternoon with the Chief Executive Officer at RWE AG, Dr Markus Krebber, at Maximos Mansion.
During the meeting, discussions focused on RWE’s investments in Greece for the development of nine photovoltaic plants in Western Macedonia, as well as the German company’s decision to invest in the construction of two more large solar energy projects in Central Macedonia.
It was emphasised that, thanks to the improved regulatory and licensing framework that has come into force in recent years, the pace of investment implementation is particularly rapid, while views were exchanged on additional investment opportunities available in our country.
With regard to the needs that exist at the European level, the importance of increasing interconnections between EU Member States was highlighted, a direction in which Greece is already moving, with plans to triple its connection capacity with Italy, while issues arising for consumers due to the chronic fragmentation of the European energy market were also discussed.
