Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ meeting with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, at Maximos Mansion.

During the extended meeting, the latest developments in Ukraine were discussed. The Prime Minister reiterated the need for an immediate and unconditional cessation of hostilities as the first step towards initiating a process that will lead to a sustainable and lasting peace.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis also reaffirmed Greece’s continued support for Ukraine and its European perspective. He stressed that this is an intergovernmental process based on the performance of the candidate countries themselves.

The two leaders discussed at length the energy cooperation between the two countries. The Prime Minister emphasized Greece’s role in European and regional energy security and in Ukraine’s energy security, which has been upgraded following the recent agreements signed in Athens for the supply and transport of American LNG through the Vertical Corridor, as well as today’s agreement signed between DEPA and Naftogaz.

The two countries also discussed defense cooperation, particularly in the field of autonomous systems, and explored possibilities for cooperation in the field of maritime drones, which are particularly important for Greece and in which Ukraine has considerable expertise.
