Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of Mistral AI Arthur Mensch

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met at Maximos Mansion with Arthur Mensch, Chief Executive Officer of Mistral AI, one of Europe’s largest startups in the field of artificial intelligence.

During the meeting, they discussed areas of potential cooperation, with a focus on the possibility of training large language models of the European artificial intelligence ecosystem, better adaptation of existing and new models to the Greek language, and the exchange of know-how with an emphasis on training Greek researchers and scientists involved in AI.

The importance of developing European technological solutions and Greece’s ability to contribute significantly in this direction was stressed, both thanks to its highly skilled human resources and its new infrastructure, such as the “PHAROS” Artificial Intelligence factory currently under construction and the “DAEDALUS” supercomputer.

At the end of the meeting, the Prime Minister attended the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Greek Government and Mistral AI, with the aim of better utilizing AI in public administration, developing new digital solutions for the benefit of citizens, using AI in sectors where Greece has comparative advantages, such as shipping, and training Greek students and graduates in Mistral’s specialization programs.

The meeting was also attended, on behalf of the Greek Government, by the Minister of Digital Governance, Dimitris Papastergiou, Special Secretary for Artificial Intelligence and Data Governance Vasilis Karkatzounis, and Special Secretary for Strategic Foresight Yannis Mastrogeorgiou.
