Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ meetings with Chief Executive Officer at Citi Jane Fraser, President of International at Bank of America Bernard Mensah, and senior executives from the two financial institutions

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis held separate meetings today with the Chief Executive Officer at Citi Jane Fraser and the President of International at Bank of America Bernard Mensah, as well as with senior executives from both financial institutions, who expressed their deep appreciation for the achievements of the Greek economy and Greece in general.

The Prime Minister reiterated that prudent fiscal policy remains the top priority, as it forms the basis for achieving surpluses and enabling a rapid reduction of debt. The benefits of this policy are absolutely clear, he stressed, as Greek bond prices have been relatively less affected by the recent crisis, and it is particularly noteworthy that Greece’s borrowing costs are now lower than those of four G7 countries (the U.S., the U.K., France, and Italy).

During the relevant discussions, particular mention was made to the challenges facing the energy market, as well as the Greek government’s initiatives at the European level to limit the rise in fuel prices – and especially heating oil prices – for the end consumer .

Discussions also focused on investments in Greece in renewable energy sources, industry, and the creation of data centers, with an emphasis on the recent announcement of a partnership between the Public Power Corporation (PPC) and Amazon Web Services. Emphasis was also placed on the growing use of ΑΙ in public administration, with the aim of improving its functionality in citizens’ interactions with government services.
