Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ meeting with institutional investors in New York

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis participated in a meeting in New York with more than 30 institutional investors with exposure to Greece and the largest Greek companies, and whose total assets under management exceed $4.5 trillion.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister stressed that prudent fiscal policy is the foundation for achieving surpluses, which in turn allow for a rapid reduction in debt, while highlighting the fact that our country’s borrowing costs are now lower than those of at least four G7 countries.

The most important immediate priority of the government at a time of great international uncertainty and turmoil, Kyriakos Mitsotakis added, is to tackle high prices, primarily by reducing energy costs – with a focus on heating oil – but also, in the medium term, by increasing disposable income through further tax cuts and higher average nominal wages.

The Prime Minister also pointed out the importance of political stability and a government with a strong parliamentary majority, noting that Greece is currently an exception compared to many countries in Europe.

Discussions also focused on investments in Greece in renewable energy sources, industry, and the creation of data centers, with an emphasis on the recent announcement of a partnership between the Public Power Corporation (PPC) and Amazon Web Services.

The Prime Minister also spoke about the importance of the government’s digital transformation and investment prospects in sectors such as energy and health.
